A Clean Slate

There has been a line drawn in the sand amongst artists in our little community here in Jacksonville. It has been there for a long time but, hasn’t really surfaced its ugly head until me and Byron King had our falling out of “artistic differences” about 6 or 7 months ago…and then about 2 months ago with the whole “Squiddust” argument. Since that time about 6months ago I went my separate way, started this blog, and have done all I can to provide you guys/gals with the latest info on Jacksonvilles emerging artists, shows, and general info. You all have been wonderful in supporting me and the blog and for that I got to say thanks Jacksonville. Byron does have his own opinion and he is entitled to his own opinion much like we are. Byron hasn’t gone about engaging in conversations in the best way all the time and often at times causes outrage in the art community. None the less Byron was extremely devoted to his blog and his vision of what Jaxcal and Globatron.org should be. Today I found out that Byron has handed over the reigns of Globatron.org to Mark Creegan. I have nothing but respect for Mark. Sure, he may not be painting monsters, or doing graffiti but, Mark has always remained positive with his posts and is a true asset to Globatron.org and the art community. I have always enjoyed a posting done by Mr. Creegan. They are always insightful and written in such a professional manner. I think Mark will do a wonderful job as the new “leader” of Jaxcal/Globatron.org. I’m very much looking forward to see how Mark does with the site. I think this will be a great step forward. So, with that said. Mark would like to wipe the slate clean and start anew. I think its a great idea and under Marks leadership I see no reason to still have any grudges toward Jaxcal/Globatron.org. Please check out Marks posting on Globatron.org to see what I mean about Mark. I just love reading anything Mark posts. Lets try and work together not against one another over art and artistic view points. Don’t get me wrong, I think criticism is a very necessary part of being an artist whether you are doing good or bad. Byron just went about it the wrong way sometimes. I do wish the best to Byron in whatever he decides to pursue next and a big congrats to Mark for taking the reigns. PEACE!

Hey folks. Just so you all understand. Byron is not quitting the blog at Globatron.org.Hes just giving someone else(Mark) the chance to drive the blog. All of the contributors are still a part of Globatron.org and Byron would like every contributor to be on rotation to help direct the blog from time to time. Understand that I do have respect for Byron and all he has done with the blog at Jaxcal/Globatron.org. We do have our differences and I dont agree with some things hes done in the past, but, Im putting that all aside with the hope that a fresh start can be made between artists on different sides of the invisible fence that has seperated us all and has created grudges that I to am guily of. Im over it and you should be too. The art community is to small to cary around grudges for the past. Im over it. The key thing now is…how long will it last? Seriously? That reamians to be seen. Is any of it fixable or will we always have a grudge against Byron? Only time will tell I guess. One thing I can say is Im over it and I truly wish for the best. All of the contributors at Jaxcal/Globatron have been doing a great job with content and discussions that are very interesting and thought provoking about politics, art, life, etc. Good job guys, keep it up. Im out-B.G.

Nice to see that guy Morrison will still “throw people under” when he sees fit. Morrison is gonna be taking care of the hollow hacks and there commy friends! Good job Morrison! Nice to show how much of an ass Morrison can be while others are trying to patch up a rocky past.

    Brian,

Thanks man. This means a lot man. I really appreciate it. I totally feel you and I too am just tired of having enemies, real or imaginary anywhere. Life is way too short.

I really want folks to get along and i by know means was trying to cause lifelong enemies over the couple of posts that I’m sure everyone has in their memories.

I’ve only done two posts that a lot of you guys truly disagreed with I think. The rest of what I’m trying to do is build community through open dialogue. I mean how many times can I say dialogue. Not enough it seems.

But I really think that’s the key to helping grow any art scene.

So with all of that said, guys I’m sorry. I support anyone who is trying. For real.

Brian this blog is great man, and it’s crazy as it was sort of because we had a falling out. I mean i had no reason to treat you that way. It was immature and I was wrong but I’m really stoked for you that you have your own blog now. If I could go back in the past I would have done that a much different way. It’s all a learning process for me man.

When we started JaxCAL I thought that everyone should be talking on one blog but I think you’ve proved that the more the merrier. We should have as many folks talking about art, as many different ways as possible.

Just some thoughts on that. But yeah man, keep it up. It looks great.

    cheers,

    Byron
