Cartoon Violence!

British artist Jimmy Cauty and his teenage son have created some limited edition prints featuring classic cartoon characters…with a twist(ed). A super bloody twist. These cartoons were violent in their original format, the results were far less gory. Cartoon physics do not involve this kind of bloodshed. When Tom hit Jerry with a hammer, he just flattened out and was good to go in the next scene. He didn’t explode into a bloody mess. The prints are very well done and almost fooled me into thinking they were work from a disgruntled animator or found in some crazy archive at the studio. A cool exhibit and an interesting take on violence in cartoons. Just in time for Halloween.

Check out the rest of the Prints.
