MUSES CORNER- Jacksonville FL- OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS- Muse’s Corner is a new 2600 sq.ft store located at 3564 St. Johns Ave (approximately 1.5 miles from the River Arts Market)  It is scheduled to open in  July. Foot traffic in the area is great and we plan to be open in the later evening hours to accommodate the restaurant crowds in the area. (Biscotti’s, The Brick and Sterling)

For the price of one (1) day at any flea or open market, your items could be available in the store 7 days a week selling while you work elsewhere or just take a day off. We can also offer space on our website where your items can be purchased on- line. Depending on what you plan to sell, there is wall, floor and shelf space available to you. All spaces will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Presently there are 5 alcoves (9′x5′ each) which can be rented as a whole or in part, 2 storefront window spaces and plenty of floor space. An area of the store will be set aside strictly for food items. Art will also be hung from the rafters for effect and of course on the walls. Prices start at $25.00 per week with no percentage taken on sales at this time. If you are interested, please respond to this email with a subject line, NEW ARTIST (or VENDOR). Those who have already responded will receive a rental application next week as I am working on a first come basis.

1-     Include in your message what items you plan to have sold in the store.

2-     Your full name and number where you can be reached

3-     Your website address if you have one

Our marketing response has been great and we expect this venture to be a wonderful success. After the inside work is complete I will contact the signed artists to visit the store to discuss their space.

Mail Me Art II-I really like this one! This is an open call to all you art folks out there. I’m definitely submitting some work to this project. The basics of what this is all about- Create art work on any type of mail( letter, postal box, etc.) and mail it off to be a part of this project. The first Mail Me Art project had enough work sent in that they hosted a group show in London and even put a book together featuring all of the work. Very nice! This time around there hoping to have a bigger response so they can host a show and hopefully another book as well. I think this project is a great idea and I’m down for it. Here is some details about the project from there website-

Mail Me Art is a British-based project, run by Darren Di Lieto, the founder and co-editor of the illustration news portal the Little Chimp Society. Over the course of a year, the first Mail Me Art project brought together a vast collection of artistic work sent in the form of mail by both professional and amateur artists of all ages from across the world. A wide variety of media were used in an equally wide variety of styles and the work arrived on everything from postcards and envelopes to boxes and pieces of wood.

Contributions included work by internationally-renowned illustrators such as Dan May, Michael Slack, Jon Burgerman, Kristian Olson, Catalina Estrada and Jeff Miracola and in total there were in excess of 600 pieces of mail art submitted to the project.

Mail Me Art culminated in the publication of the book Mail Me Art: Going Postal with the World’s Best Illustrators and Designers and the exhibition, held in London during April 2009.

Mail Me Art 2 is now up and running. It is hoped that this will be as successful as the first project – if not more so!

Mail Me Art 2 will run for around 6-8 months, with a signed copy of the book plus an art-related prize given away each month to the artist of our favourite submission. We are planning to propose a follow up book, possibly called Mail Me More Art, and if we have half as many submissions as the first Mail Me Art project did we will run another exhibition. As with the first project, the artists will receive 70% of the sale value, less any gallery fees incurred. Click here to see photos from the Mail Me Art exhibition held in April 2009 in London.

If you would like to take part in Mail Me Art 2, please click here for full details of how to submit your work
